What’s New
A running log of what’s shipped, newest first. For what’s coming next, see the Roadmap.
2026-07-02
Highlights
- Themes are here! The app's look and the wheel's palette are now separate choices — pick an App theme and a Wheel theme independently, per light and dark mode. A new Themes page lets you browse and preview themes, duplicate one and tune every color live, export and import theme files, and delete your custom ones, plus a quick theme switcher in the header
- Zodiacal Releasing now offers three views — a period table, stacked period lanes, and a chronological reading — switchable in place on the same page, with export to plain text, Markdown, or CSV
- Cygnus can now be installed as an app on your phone or desktop home screen (how to install — Android and iOS)
UX improvements
- New "Hide Moon aspects" filter on the Transits page
- Saved lunar-return, progression, and solar-arc charts can have their target date adjusted without starting over; lunar and solar-return charts can also be relocated
- Electional search starts from your saved default location instead of a random city, and "Use my location" now shows a "Near ⟨City⟩" label instead of raw coordinates
- Timezone picker is now a searchable list of real-world timezones
- Email-subscription controls added to Settings, plus a public unsubscribe page
- Improvements to chart location handling, including relocation and "use my location" accuracy
- Google sign-in now lets you pick which account to use, instead of always reusing your last session
- New heading typeface (Fraunces) and a new swan favicon
- A round of small polish across chart tables and reference pages — clearer glyphs, consistent retrograde markers, steadier layouts
- Smoother navigation between chart pages, plus refinements across the new theme system and Zodiacal Releasing
Fixes
- Wheel dragging is smoother across the board, especially on Firefox
- Fixed a crash when a chart was missing a body one of its lots depends on — the chart now just skips that lot
- Fixed dashboard and library chart previews ignoring your house system and zodiac settings
- A range of background accuracy and rendering improvements to chart calculation and the wheel display, including sidereal Whole Sign house cusps and occasional rendering glitches on individual planets
- Many small UX improvements and fixes
Miscellaneous
- We updated our Privacy Policy to include the specific cases when we may look at individual account data, which is limited to support requests, debugging, or investigating safety and abuse or legal and compliance issues. We also made clarifications about the nature of non-tracking, appearance customization-related cookies and local storage, and tweaked language around the types of user data stored to be more accurate.
- We added a new Privacy Policy version history page, where you can view all versions of the privacy policy, past and present.
2026-06-10
- New Tradition page in the sidebar for logged in users, where you can set app-wide astrological defaults: house system, zodiac system, bounds, decans, lunar stations, and body selections. You can also temporarily override those settings on any chart page
- You can now cast charts in a sidereal zodiac! Choose from five ayanamsas (Fagan/Bradley, Lahiri, Krishnamurti, Raman, Yukteshwar) or even enter your own custom degree offset!
- The seven Paulus Hermetic Lots (Fortune, Spirit, Eros, Necessity, Courage, Victory, and Nemesis) are now selectable wheel bodies. Eros through Nemesis are represented by the lot's derived planet in a circle. More lots coming soon!
- New "force sect" control lets you override day/night determination (auto, day, or night) on any chart--mostly for playing with lots and twilight charts
- Lunar nodes now available. Whew!
- Chart playback is redesigned: smoother day-by-day motion, clearer controls, and an "animate angles & houses" toggle
- Glyph-spacing algorithm improved; no more overlapping and cramped glyphs
- Improvements to location search and timezone handling
- NASA JPL's DE441 dataset incorporated, allowing you to cast charts from 13,200 BC to 17,191 AD
- Fixed a bug where a loaded chart's timezone could change as you navigated between pages
- Fixed the Moon's computed speed, which was about 2.8% too slow
- Historical birth times from before standardized time zones now handled via Local Mean Time
- Many small UX improvements and tweaks
2026-05-25
- New Planetary Speed reference page, with typical and maximum speeds for every body
- Speed indicator on the chart tables — hover or tap to see how fast a body is moving versus normal
- House-system selector now available on every chart page
- Minor UX improvements
2026-05-24
- Cygnus launched in early access!
